Jamaica coach Theodore Whitmore Jamaica's senior football team, the Reggae Boyz, left the island yesterday on a quest to defend their Digicel Caribbean Cup (DCC) title. For this year's final, Jamaica has been placed in Group I, which features Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana and Guadeloupe. The second group (H) comprises Trinidad and Tobago, Martinique, Grenada and Cuba. Jamaica will bow into action tomorrow when they tackle Antigua and Barbuda at the Riviere Pilote Stadium; match time is set for 7:30 p.m. local time. They will then face Guadeloupe at the Riviere Pilote Stadium on the 29th at 8:30 p.m., before rounding out the preliminary round against Guyana at the same venue in a 9 p.m. encounter on December 1. The semi-finals will be played on December 3, with the third-place game and the final down to be contested on the December 5. The eventual winners of the competition will receive US$120,000, with US$70,000, US$50,000, US$30,000 going to the teams placing second, third and fourth, respectively. The top-four countries will also advance to the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup finals in the United States. The local delegation is comprised of 20 players and eight officials. National under-20 captain and Clarendon College player Sergio Campbell, as well as Boys' Town's Marvin Morgan, travelled with the national team for the first time. Physical trainer Andre Waugh will join up with the team in Martinique tomorrow.
