Waterhouse ready for recovery

Ricardo Makyn - Waterhouse's Vincent Earle goes by Tivoli Gardens' Keammar Daley during a match at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium recently.

First-round leaders Waterhouse will look to stage a quick recovery when they face Benfica in this weekend's round of Digicel Premier League (DPL) games, having reacquired the services of head coach Baris Johnson.

Having led Waterhouse to an impressive eight wins, two losses and one draw in the first round of the competition, Johnson withdrew his services from the club, who then crashed to a 5-1 loss in the end-of-round final and a 1-0 loss to open the second round against Sporting Central.

However, the coach and the club seemed to have ironed out their differences in a midweek meeting, and with Johnson back in the bench this Sunday the club will hope to return to winning ways. Despite the fact that they were ripped apart 5-0 by league leaders Tivoli last weekend, newcomers Benfica have been relatively strong at Drax Hall, scoring wins over Boys' Town and Reno in their last two meetings.

good run

Red hot Tivoli will in the meantime look to maintain their good run of form, which has seen the west Kingston team slam in 11 goals in their last two games, when they travel to Brancourt to face Sporting Central. Despite the absence of their top striker, Navion Boyd, Tivoli remain a dangerous unit, with both midfielder Keammar Daley and striker Devon Hodges in good form.

A struggling Harbour View will look to get their season back on track when they welcome St Georges and former player Jermaine Taylor back to the Compound. The Portland team have got off to a good start under new coach Geoffrey Maxwell, registering only their second win of the season last weekend and will hope to continue in that vein as they aim to move clear of the relegation zone.

A last-minute goal by Fabian Dawkins gifted Arnett Gardens their second home win of the season, but they will face a stern test when they face top-flight returnees Reno, who are just above them in the standings. Winless in their last three games after a promising, start Boys' Town will be looking for all three points when they face a Humble Lion team currently the bottom two. Humble Lion have been consistent under new coach Lenworth Hyde but have failed to take full points from advantageous situations. Portmore United, who are in fourth, led by their in-form striker Jason Morrisey, will look to keep in touch with the top of the table when they travel to Jarrett Park to face Village.
