Local school, Bridgeport High, advanced to the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Walker Cup final after dismissing parish-mate Eltham High 1-0 in the semi-final, through a Tyeshawn Rainford 64th-minute penalty at the Prison Oval last Wednesday.

Bridgeport's opponents in the final are arch-rivals and defending champs, Jamaica College (JC), who clipped Norman Manley 1-0 through an own-goal in the first semi-final, at the venue. Two Fridays ago, Waterford bowed out of contention after going down 2-0 to Norman Manley.

It was not a terrific display by Bridgeport, who last won the knock-out cup in 2001, but they put in a gusty performance that foiled Eltham's onslaught on their goal. Today, Bridgeport play JC in their first match in the quarter-final round of the Manning Cup at 1 p.m. at the Constant Spring playfield.
