SHELDON WILLIAMS, STAR Writer

Preparations were in high gear yesterday as members of staff at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court made themselves ready for the impending threat of Tropical Storm Tomas.

"Mi no know wah Tomas a gwaan wid but we really no want it right yah so right now," a member of staff told THE WEEKEND STAR.

When THE WEEKEND STAR visited the court's offices, staff members were seen securing equipment such as photo copiers and court files and other documents with large plastic bags.

They were also observed acting speedily to ensure the safeguarding of such equipment so that they could leave for home quickly.

Other members of staff took the opportunity to have a laugh as one commented, "Me wish me gas tank did full right now, yes man, me wish me gas tank did full."

Another remarked: "Me have candle, me just need some matches and two pounds of flour," as they both laughed at each other.

Court proceedings ended about midday to provide sufficient time for preparations to take place.
