Upcoming artiste Denno was just a child when he began a career that now boast a host of singles. Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR, Denno, whose real name is Denrick Pinnock, said he started doing music when he was only eight years old. He said he often travelled with his father, who operated Killer Vicious Sound System. However, this was without his father's knowledge as he would only appear upon arrival at the venue. "Mi hide inna di vehicle and when him reach, mi just jump out," he said, noting that he practised on the sound system. After those early years, Denno attended Bridgeport High. There, he participated very little in music-related activities. When he graduated from Bridgeport High School, he did vocational training at HEART where he earned a certificate in welding. But it wasn't until two years ago that he made music his profession after being signed to Master One Productions. Since then, he has also done songs like A Prayer For Haiti with Ojah, Mi Feel It, Make It and Dem Nuh Real. In the near future, he will also be releasing singles like Caan Stop Da Yute Ya, Leave Di Likkle Schoolgirl and Jah A Guide Me. He has also performed at shows like Manchester Fiesta and Kingston International Culinary Festival, as well as various school tours. Like other young artistes, his path has not been without challenges. "One of the challenges for young artistes locally is getting disc jocks to play your music but Master One took care of that," Denno told THE WEEKEND STAR. Regardless of where his career reaches, the Clarendon native pledges to "keep humble, produce and write good music weh di people can relate to and always keep it positive." |
