Despite the numerous ambitious plans on the drawing board, for newly re-elected Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) boss, Captain Horace Burrell, what is most pleasing to him at this time is the fact that he is leading what he has described as a, "fully united team".

"When you have a united team, the sky is the limit," Burrell told STAR Sports in an interview following Sunday's JFF special general meeting at the Iberostar Hotel in Montego Bay, where his entire executive was returned unopposed.

"I am fully re-energised, ready and raring to go, knowing that I have the full support of a united team."

At various stages during the last administration, the impression was given that the JFF and its most powerful affiliate, the Kingston & St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), were not seeing eye-to-eye, stemming from discontent carried over from the Crenston Boxhill era.

"I like the fact that the team was re-elected unanimously," said Burrell. "This is really the best feeling one could have as a leader."

With regards to his biggest ambition at this time, which is to have the national senior team - the Reggae Boyz - qualify for the 2014 world cup in Brazil, Captain Burrell said his solid optimism is based on the fact that the national programme is now more conducive to achieving success.

"We now have the experience in terms of what is needed to qualify," noted Burrell. "In addition, we have the experience and the quality players to get the job done."

the great problem

Burrell believes the great problem facing the national programme is to decide on the players, who will be selected to spearhead the campaign from the vast talent pool available to the coaching staff.

"It is a good problem to have because it means we have the players to select from," said Burrell. "In the recent past, we never had the level of experience we now have ... we now have many players for so many positions, it is bound to create a real challenge for the coaching staff."

Steeped in the belief that Jamaica's football is in a good position for a positive take-off, Burrell extended an invitation to all Jamaica, especially the corporate community, to throw their full support behind the national programme. According to him, an investment in the national programme is bound to be a sound investment.
