Pursue your education |
Dear Pastor,
A man should not use the pursuit of education for someone else as an investment that will benefit them. He should apply himself first because two broke and uneducated people cannot help each other in any way. No matter how old you are, you are never too old to have an education, especially if you have the means and ways to receive it. As a college student, I've been asked once before to be taken care of in regards to education, but I am no sugar baby. I want to pursue my education on my own terms and now I have worked hard enough to receive a full scholarship to pursue whatever I want to. As for the gentleman, we are best friends and he respects my decision and supports me with words of wisdom and encouragement. You don't need to be a sugar baby to get where you need to be. Work hard and it will pay off. J., US Dear J., Many will agree with you that a person ought not to assist another and consider what he has done as future investment for himself. The same is true for people who have many children. They consider their children their investment. But many of these children, when they become adults, leave home and do not look back at their parents at all. Some parents do not know where their children are. Some people are ungrateful and selfish, so when a person helps another, he/she should do so without expecting to receive anything in return. You were offered help but you refused. Some young people cannot refuse help, because of their circumstances. Not many people receive scholarships and not many can work and study because jobs are not available. So one should not condemn young people when they see the opportunity to accept offers to further their education. I am glad that you are doing well, and I trust that the Lord will keep you in good health and that your goals and objectives will be realised. Pastor |
