Cop shot and injured by gunmen

A member of the Island Special Constabulary Force was shot and injured by gunmen at his home in Westport, Portmore, St Catherine, yesterday.

The special sergeant who is attached to Harman Barracks was at home about 2 p.m. when he was attacked by two men.

Reports are that the men walked up to the policeman while he was cleaning his car. They are said to have fired several shots hitting him in the abdomen and his arm. The gunmen escaped on foot in the community.

The injured policeman was taken to the hospital where he was admitted for injuries received.

In September, another policeman, Special Corporal Garfield Anderson, was killed by gunmen while riding his bicycle in Westchester, Port-more, St Catherine.

In another incident in the parish, another special constable was killed by gunmen along Young Street on August 2.

Police investigators told THE STAR that the attack against their colleagues will not stop the assault against crime.

The Bridgeport police are investigating the incident.
