The Portmore Community College (PCC) recently embarked on a quality-control programme to improve the overall physical atmosphere at the tertiary institution. A major step taken to add to the support staff's knowledge and competence in quality control was done at a seminar at the Ken's Wildflower Lounge in Bayside. A number of support staff participated in the course and were given certificates at the end. The purpose of the course was to transmit knowledge of cleaning chemicals and procedures necessary to maintain an 'A' quality campus. Principal of PCC, Karen Kennedy, endorsed the programme which is geared at improving the institution's standards. Guest speaker was Oneil Taylor from Ecolabs. He spoke to the staff about cleaning agents and how to maintain the campus properly. Kemar Byfield, a maintenance supervisor, did the occupational health and safety course. Beverly Guthrie, the personnel officer, did the closing remarks and gave out certificates to participants. |
