From waste to beauty - Pt 2 |
|||||
![]() ![]() This week we continue our discussions on making ourselves beautiful, using items we would normally throw out. Bottle caps are very useful for women and manicurists who like to create their own unique nail polish colours. Use the caps from soda and other plastic juice bottles for mixing one or more nail polish colours to create a new colour. This way you can have fresh new colours all the time without using up all your nail polishes. 'egg-cellent' carrier They say that true beauty starts from within and eating right is one way of staying beautiful. If you are taking nutritional supplements such as multivitamins, you may sometimes forget to take them when you should. Solve this problem by taking some with you to work or school in a used supplement bottle. This way you will always have them with you when you do remember to take them. A really good way to organise all your beauty items is to use a flat egg tray. This tray has a number of spaces which can hold items such as nail polish bottles, cotton, nail files, lipsticks and other items. The beauty of it is that you can stack them together to save space. Spray paint the trays and make them pretty. Did you know that tea bags can be used to reduce puffiness under the eyes? Tea contains tannin which naturally reduces puffiness. You can save the tea bags from your tea and use them as part of your home spa experience. Put the tea bags to cool and then place them over the eyes while you rest for 10-15 minutes. Some persons prefer using the tea bags when they are warm. Be careful that they are not too hot. Use a towel to absorb any liquid which may leak from them. Make sure the tea bags are damp not dry. If you are a coffee lover don't throw out the coffee grounds after you make a pot. Coffee grounds are good to use as a body scrub to get rid of dead skin cells from the face and body. This is especially good for areas such as the elbows and knees, which tend to be rougher than the rest of our bodies. Coffee grounds are known to contain antioxidants and Vitamin E, which is good for your skin. Mixing a little brown sugar with them is also good. Be sure to wash completely clean! Look around you. There are so many beauty items going to waste. Use them up. Ann Marie Rodriques PeaceWater Services Send questions or comments to peacewaterservices@yahoo.com |
