Inaugural Albert Town day celebrated

The Digicel community day out is expected to bring out hundreds for the Heroes weekend.

Today, over 30 Digicel staff members head to the western parish of Trelawny for the seventh stop in the series of Digicel Community Family Fun Days.

"We started out with our first family Fun Day in Darliston, Westmoreland, and it was fantastic. Since then we have been to St Catherine, St Ann, Manchester, Clarendon and Hanover, and we've been having a great time with the community members, getting to know our extended family even better and giving them the opportunity to interact with our customer-service team on the ground," explained Donovan White, head of marketing, Digicel.

In recognition of Albert Town being placed third in the National Best Communities Foundation Awards, the Albert Town Citizens Association has decided to declare today (October 16) as Albert Town Day - a celebration that coincides with Digicel's visit to the community, making it a truly grand affair.

"When we heard Digicel was planning to come to Albert Town with their Family Fun Day we were excited because we had begun planning our Albert Town Day, we reached out to the team to find out if we could merge efforts and they willingly agreed this is great for us because we wanted to bring awareness to the people of Albert Town about our success in the competition," said Gladys Codner, president of the Albert Town Citizens' Associations.

Residents in the yam parish will truly have a feel-good day with entertainment and autograph signings expected from one of dancehall's hottest artistes Bugle and Digicel Rising Stars 2010 winner-Dalton Harris. The day will be hosted by Miss Kitty.

"For us at Digicel, what better way to celebrate this Heroes weekend than with our communities? We're excited and we look forward to further connecting with our customers and their families as we bring out our family to them", declared White.
