Man on murder charge remanded

Anthony Cawley, the man charged with the murder of security guard, Patrick Robinson, in May of this year, was remanded in custody when he reappeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

This, as the post-mortem report was not available to the court.

Nonetheless, Cawley maintained his innocence and told the court that he was being used as a scapegoat in the matter as people always told lie on him.

Cawley will return to court for a preliminary enquiry on November 11.

All witnesses were subpoenaed in the matter.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, Cawley was allegedly seen standing over the now deceased with a machete chopping him several times in the head.

Cawley later went on the run and was held during the recent state of emergency effected in the Corporate Area.
