Jagra, GT Taylor present Christmas Extravaganza

GT Taylor - File

Independence Park, Black River, comes alive on December 25 with the 11th staging of the Jagra GT Taylor Christmas Reggae Extravaganza.

The event promises to be a superb treat for fans of reggae and dancehall, with the emphasis still being placed on the promotion of Jamaican music and culture.

This year's event has been tailored to suit a wider audience, with food exhibitions featuring St Elizabeth's prized shrimp, Jamaican craft stalls, giveaways and other treats.

GT Taylor, organiser and founder of the event, explained, "It's something we are doing for the people despite any setbacks we may encounter over the course of planning the event. For 11 years it has been incident free and is still a great place to meet people from all over the island."

The show will feature some of Jamaica's most talented reggae and dancehall musicians, such as Beenie Man, Lady Saw and Khago.

Proceeds from the show will go to the St Elizabeth Care Committee, which is involved in outreach programmes that provide food and clothing for the homeless.

For the show, patrons will pay $1,000 presold and $1,200 at the gate. The Jagra-sponsored event will feature specials and giveaways, courtesy of the brand, throughout the night.
