murdered by unknown assailant/s on a dirt track in Amity Hall, St Catherine, on Tuesday morning, police told THE STAR.

The dead man has been identified by police as Steve West of McCook's Pen, St Catherine.

According to information reaching THE STAR from the Old Harbour Police, about 7:45 a.m. workers on a neighbouring farm reportedly heard explosions and went to investigate. They found West's body lying on the dirt track.

The police were summoned and upon closer inspection of the body, revealed that it had gunshot wounds.

The St Catherine South Homicide Unit is investigating.
