Former bank teller pleads guilty to larceny

Shaneal Amos, who was employed as a bank teller at Scotia Bank, Premier Plaza Branch, pleaded guilty to several counts of larceny as a servant in court yesterday.

It took the Clerk of Court in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court longer than usual to plead the accused because of the numerous counts against her.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey then ordered that a social enquiry report be prepared in the matter and that a probation officer be assigned to the case.

Amos had her bail extended and will return to court on November 9.

As a result of Amos' actions, the bank is deemed to have been exposed to a potential loss of $577, 250.

The court heard that investigations by the senior operations officer for service and operations at the bank's branch discovered that bet-ween August 18 and September 23 of this year, a number of irregular transactions were processed by Amos.

To date, some transaction records for the withdrawal of some monies by Amos, are yet to be located.
