New students came out expecting a wild night of partying and that was exactly what they got at UTech's Freshers Fête, dubbed 'The Genesis', held last Friday on campus at the Faculty of Engineering car park.

Patrons, however, did not turn out in their numbers until after 1 a.m., to enjoy the first of many university parties.

The bar was busy as patrons made regular trips to refill their party cups, but some patrons opted to purchase high-end liquor such as Hennessy and Alize instead of the usual mixed drinks.

The musical juggling was excellent with the exception of a short period of technical difficulty after DJ Khemist's set.

DJ Khemist played hits such as Everyday I'm Hustling, Riding Dirty and Party Like a Rockstar, in an effort to build a vibe and keep patrons in the party mood. He succeeded in doing so when a UTech customised dub of Bugle's Exercise was played.

Chromatic took over on the turntables, spinning songs that got patrons in a frenzy. Hits such as Duffle Bag Boy, Neva Scared and A Milli blared from the speakers and when they played Vybz Kartel's Broad Daylight, Talk Wid Gunshot, Prison Life and When Shotta Go a Jail, the 'forwards' were never ending.

ZJ Liquid picked up where Chromatic left off, as he spun hits such as My Chick Bad and Dutty Love and had the students dancing to Dougie and waving liquor-filled cups in the air to My Cupp.

ZJ Wah Wa, who closed a superb night of musical juggling, played hits from Seanizzle's 'One Day' rhythm such as I'm Okay, Swaggerific, Nah Sell Out and Rum and Red Bull. The women were not left out as he played Hold Yuh and Gal Come Wine Up, among a number of 'wining' tunes and the women were delighted as they gyrated on the men.
