ISSA bans six daCosta Cup players |

Six daCosta Cup players, two from Petersfield High in West-moreland and four students from Brimmervale High in St Mary, were suspended for the rest of the season following a disciplinary meeting of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) yesterday. The six players suspended are Davion Graham and Aldane Kennedy of Petersfield; and Curtis Francis, Shane Thompson, Tevon Thomas and Jemar Miller of Brimmervale. In addition to being banned for the rest of the season, Peters-field's Graham and Kennedy will be suspended for the first three games of the 2011-2012 season. throwing chair Goalkeeper Graham has been sanctioned for his role in a fracas which occurred during the Petersfield versus Manning's game which took place on Wed-nesday, October 6, while Kennedy was banned for throwing a chair at a Manning's teacher. The Brimmervale players were suspended for their roles in fracas following a match against St Mary High in Port Maria, also on Wednesday, October 6. The following is the full text of a release from ISSA's competitions officer, George Forbes. "Please be advised that at an ISSA disciplinary committee meeting held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 to hear two incidents in the daCosta Cup, the following decisions were reached: 1. Petersfield High versus Manning's High game on Wed-nesday, October 6, 2010, played at Petesrfield High. Davion Graham - Petersfield goalkeeper was suspended for the remainder of the season, plus three matches for the 2011-12 season for his role in the fracas that led to the blowing off of the game. Aldane Kennedy - Petersfield player suspended for the remainder of the season, plus three matches next season for hurling a chair at a Manning's teacher. Petersfield will not be allowed to host any home matches for the rest of the season. Petersfield will not be allowed to host the first three home matches for the 2011-12 season. Commended Petersfield principal, Mrs Eugenie Spence, for her role in suspending all the players for a minimum of two days followed by counseling and probation. The match awarded to Manning's by a scoreline of 2-0 and 3 points. 2. Brimmervale High versus St Mary High on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 held at Brimmervale. Brimmervale players Curtis Francis, Shane Thompson, Tevon Thomas and Jemar Miller were each suspended for the rest of the season for their involvement in the fracas after the match. Brimmervale will not be allowed to host any game for the remainder of the season, plus one match for the 2011-12 season. Brimmervale reprimanded for not having adequate security and the playing area not properly roped. Brimmervale mandated to have at least four senior teachers to assist with security for the next season. |
