Deejay Chaka Demus is now in the hospital recuperating after a recent health scare.

The artiste, who is half of the duo Chaka Demus and Pliers, is recovering at the Andrews Memorial Hospital after a surgery.

Unconfirmed reports are that the deejay was admitted to hospital last week after being ill.

Last month, Chaka Demus and Pliers recorded a new single called California One Night Stand on the Free People Entertainment label.

The duo was the first Jamaican act to have three consecutive Top-5 hits on the UK Singles Chart - Tease Me,Twist and Shout, a cover of the Isley Brothers' single and Murder She Wrote. Earlier this year, the duo filed a (J$860 million) US$10 million lawsuit against Universal Music for trademark infringement and unpaid royalties.
