Teen's crush on girl leads to attack - beats man who visited her

A St Mary teenager who allegedly attacked a much older man and openly expressed jealousy for a woman on whom he is said to have a huge 'crush,' has become the talk of his community.

THE STAR heard that last Wednesday, the 18-year-old accused a 42-year-old man of coming into his community and visiting a woman for whom he is said to have a serious liking. The teen also accused the man of trying to steal the woman from him.

The incident reportedly occurred in a section of the parish known as 'Gully' close to Pleasant Hill.

It was further heard that after laying out his allegation which was thought to be a joke at first, the teen is said to have punched the visitor in the face multiple times before chasing him through a section of the community and urging him not to return.

not joking

"At first wi think a joke eno cause everybody know seh him love off di girl, but a when wi see him start thump off di man face wi realise seh di likkle yute serious," one resident, 23-year-old Marie-Ann Wilson who claimed to have witnessed the fracas told THE STAR.

"Mi neva know seh man can so serious. Di yute a run dung di big man and a tell him seh him nuffi come back cause a fi him girl and a him love har...Is like di likkle yute get mad," another resident added.

Efforts to contact the 20-odd-year-old woman who the teen reportedly had a crush on were unsuccessful, residents however say their investigations suggest that the man who was attacked is of a St Andrew address.

A source from the St Mary division said word of the incident had reached the police but no formal report was submitted.

Meanwhile, residents say the teen has not been seen since the incident and claimed this was very unbecoming of him.

"Everybody a talk bout it cause it surprise di whole a wi roun ya. Is normally a quiet yute eno. Mi tired fi tell people seh jealousy is a wicked thing eno," Wilson also said.
