Man pleads guilty to damaging jewellery

A case concerning damage to pieces of jewellery valued at US$267 ($22,962) was heard in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The complainant told the court that the jewellery which was damaged was given to him as a gift by his wife and all he wanted was for the accused to pay for the repairs to them.

Charged with malicious destruction of property is Kenrick Miller, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court heard that on August 25 about 11:30 p.m., both men got into an argument which materialised into a fight. During the fight, a gold chain and a silver chain belonging to the complainant were damaged.

Miller will return to court on October 15 when he is expected to "fix it by that time", in the words of Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.
