It was only three days ago that a St Ann man expressed interest in giving away his three-year-old son because he is unable to care for the child. Since the publication of that story in THE WEEKEND STAR on September 20, several readers have expressed an interest in the story and have pledged to assist the father to keep his son by offering regular financial support to them. Malawetold THE WEEKEND STAR that he will "tek the help first and if it no work out, then mi gi him weh". He added: "Mek we see wah gwaan and then we decide." The good Samaritans who do not want the child to be separated from his father have promised to assist Malawe to care for his son by purchasing grocery, among other things, to ease the burden Malawe now faces. One person even promised to pay Malawe a visit shortly, "She seh she a go help me," Malawe explained to THE WEEKEND STAR. Malawe admitted to THE WEEKEND STAR that he now has a boost of confidence following "real talks" with those who promised assistance and is grateful for the favourable feedback. Name changed |
