Ricky Eminence back in Heineken Green Synergy show |
|||||
Fiction Lounge's Kevin Bourke (left) relays the good news to Ricky Eminence that Grand Master Flash wants him back on Heineken Green Synergy. - Contributed DJ Ricky Eminence was given a new lease on life in the Heineken Green Synergy reality TV show when he was brought back after impressing celebrity judge Grand Master Flash as the series continued on TVJ last Friday. Ricky was one of the first five DJs who was cut from the show, bringing it down to six, which was called the Heineken Green Synergy Six Pack. Don Hype was the next DJ to be cut, leaving DJ Naz, DJ Narity, DJ Banka, DJ Jerry and DJ 47. However, after reviewing clips of Ricky Eminence from his stint on the show, and seeing him play at Fiction Lounge where Ricky happens to be the resident DJ, Flash requested him back. The DJs got a chance to meet and share with some of the top DJs in the business at a party at Fiction Lounge. The professional DJs on show were Colin Hines from FAME FM, Sanjay of Coppershot Disco, Miami-based DJ Richie D, Delano of Renaissance and Alric and Boyd. Smoke from Renaissance was also in the house, along with the guest of honour, Grand Master Flash and his protégé, DJ Demo. a strong chance DJ Eminence was told by one of the club's owners, Kevin Bourke, that Flash saw some clips of him and was impressed so, if he impressed him (Grand Master Flash) some more on the night, there was a strong chance that he would be drafted back in the show. Like a man possessed, Ricky Eminence worked up a storm on the turntables and rocked a jam-packed Fiction Lounge scratching and mixing party music. The crowd on hand was also treated to some wicked selections courtesy of Colin Hines, who showed some awesome turntable tricks while unleashing some bad selections. DJ Sanjay represented well for the Coppershot fans. Alric, and then Boyd, playing solo, also heated up Fiction Lounge with some hype selections. Richie D also played a high-energy set which had the crowd rocking throughout. It was Delano, however, who took the party to an even higher level with some awesome juggling. The Heineken Green Synergy DJs were stopped in their tracks of 'partying the night away' when they were told by host Tami Chynn that they would each play sets similar to one of the five professional DJs who had played earlier. DJ Banka, having got the most points in the last challenge, got to choose the order in which the DJs play, and the pro DJ that each should pattern. DJ Naz got to play Boyd's set who has played some old-school hip hop, DJ 47 got Alric, who had played alternative music; Banka chose Delano, who played mainly retro dancehall; Jerry got Sanjay's set, a mixture of genres; and Narity got Colin Hines' set. It was DJ Naz who got the highest score as she did a very good job patterning Boyd. DJ Jerry got the lowest score on the night. It was good, though, to see the young DJs with their established counterparts, who gave them valuable pointers which should help in their development into top disc jockeys.
