Suspects held in connection with Tredegar Park killings

As their investigations continue, the police have so far nabbed seven suspects in connection with the brutal slaying of eight persons in Tredegar Park, St Catherine, on August 13.

The seven include two men who were arrested in Westmoreland and another who was held in central Kingston. Investigators attached to the St Catherine North police said the suspects will be placed on identification parades later this week, and will also be further questioned in connection with the gruesome incident.

According to police reports, about 1 a.m. a group of about 20 heavily armed men, dressed in dark-coloured clothing, invaded sections of the community known as Monkey Town and Backbush and went from house to house, killing the occupants. Two families were left to mourn the loss of four loved ones.

The victims from one family were identified as 11-year-old Alexifia Anderson; her mother Hopelin Dennis, 43; her sister Nekfifa Anderson, 23; and her brother Joel Anderson.

The other victims were Eldon Heron 60; his son, 38-year-old Eldon Heron Jr; Gary Stewart, 22; and Orrett Miller, 26.
