Kirov Klump staged at Kirkland Heights in Red Hills, St Andrew on Sunday, came to an abrupt and early end, after police officers flocked the venue bearing high-powered weapons and commanded an end to the proceedings.

THE STAR arrived at the venue at approximately 8 p.m. just in time for Supa Hype's dancehall segment. The music was being played extremely low. During this time, most of the patrons were making their way inside the venue, while others were already on the dance floor.

The bars in the venues were fully occupied as patrons geared up for the intended fun, which was slated to end at 11 p.m. But the first sign of trouble appeared far to early. At around 8:45 p.m., the first set of police officers came to the venue and engaged in a long conversation with the promoter, causing the music to stop. During this time, Supa Hype encouraged patrons to be patient until the situation was resolved.

Finally, the music restarted at 9 p.m., Supa Hype playing hip hop songs like Dj Khaled's All I do is Win and Rick Ross' Summer is Mine, the latter getting a roaring approval from the patrons who were happy to see the police leave the venue.

However, the celebration was short-lived, as the police returned 20 minutes later, this time insisting that the music be turned off. After some amount of deliberation, the promoter succumbed to the power of the law, and had to turn off the music and inform patrons that the fun was over.

Richie Rass, Dj Wah Wa and Dj Ali Patch from TNG, who had not touched the turntables as yet, had to suppress their desires to play and exit the venue along with the disgruntled patrons, as many complained that they did not get value for their money.

According to Adrain Ray, promoter for the event, the area has been under scrutiny since the Dudus extradition saga that spread to the Red Hills area. An upset Ray said that next year he will move the event to a more party-friendly venue.

"I want to apologize to the patrons, and next year we will relocate because we don't want a repeat of this situation. Special thanks to all the sponsors, next year will be better," he said.

The event was being staged for the fifth time. This year's event was sponsored by Kirov Vodka, Red Bull, Coco-Cola, Genesis white rum, Smirnoff Vodka and Versalles Ice, among others.
