Laranzo Dacres, Star Writer
Female patrons were enthralled by Aidonia's every lyrical slur as he closed off last weekend's Summer Baraage with a stellar performance, ensuring that the Lawless Events and Alca Entertainment carousal would be on the lips of attendees for weeks to come. The mega mix drink-inclusive party held last Saturday, transformed Hope Gardens into party-central. Upon entering the section that played host to the party, a section of the asphalt paved roads, were neatly organised booths from various sponsors, bars and a pan chicken shelter, which all led up to the elevated stage in the VIP section that housed the DJ booth, mini dance stage and VIP bar. Behind the stage was a tent that gave shelter to six large white leather couches for the comfort of the VIPs. The vibes took no time to build as DJ Cutty of Coppershot had no reservations as appetites were filled. And K'naan's Wavin' Flag, the song that seems to be on every disc jockey's list these days, was a mega hit with patrons. higher dancing vibe While the music played into the minds of patrons effecting wining, gyration or sideways rocking, patrons made regular trips to the bar to get their cups refilled. Redbull flooded the VIP section, whether it was a can or mixed with the available alcoholic beverages. Getting down into his set Cutty called for patrons to come closer to the stage as police had requested for the music level to be lowered. The result of this - more popular songs and a higher dancing vibe and rollicking as with the entrance of ZJ Liquid came a hoard of club hits as the ZJ was in his element. As Tony Matterhorn took over the wheels of steel with the newest addition to the ZIP FM family ZJ Wah Wa by his side, he called out his remix of K'naan's Wavin' Flag, a rather raunchy rendition that had the patrons' ears perked up as the lyrics instructed them what to do on the coming Negril Weekend. And as per usual, Matterhorn did not fail in giving the patrons a bit of verbal entertainment during his set. When the clock stuck 2:30 a.m. the performers hit the stage, and the patrons quickly swarmed that area, some mouths agape, as they awaited Aidonia's performance. Before he took the stage, there were performances from Chozenn, Chedda Mixing Lab who beat-boxed his way into the patrons' hearts, and Timberlee in her ballerina ensemble. After this, ZJ Wah Wa requested the lights to be dimmed as the 'Bad People General' came on to stage to deafening screams. Performing Bounce It, My Heart Is Hers, Hundred Stab and Bounce among others, he had the female patrons wining none stop. Stein also ran out with Rise Di Machine along with Deablo and Navino In Deh on the Sex Appeal Riddim. The energy during the performance segment skyrocketed as patrons revelled in the lyrics. At 3:05 a.m. when Aidonia closed off the event with We Run Uptown, patrons were left wanting more as one patron was heard saying in disbelief, "Di party cya done ... !"
