Star Tell Me Pastor

Good friends are hard to find

Dear Pastor,

It is a great pleasure to be able to contribute to your topic. I am writing from California in the United State (US). I think that I was a fool to confide in 'friends'. Throughout high school I had some great friends but I was a fool to believe that I would continue to meet great friends wherever I go. It was when I went to a university in Missouri, USA, that I found out that it was not so. This school is attended by many Jamaicans. I thought that they would have my best interest at heart, since we share the same cultural background. Instead, they ripped me to threads. It reached a point where I would not trust friends anymore, especially the Jamaicans in the US. I am so scared to meet them.

I tune in to your programme almost every night and you are doing a great job. Oh, I was even fortunate to have got a call from you one night after your programme when I was in Jamaica about five years ago. So, I am not a stranger and will never be. Keep sweet, Pastor.

N.B., California, U.S.A.

Dear N.B.,

Good friends are hard to find. That is why one should be very careful what one says to another. Sometimes the person one trusts as a friend lets him/her down. If you do not want a matter to be repeated, don't tell it to a friend. Talk to God about it. He will never tell anybody about it. You will never hear it again from Him. No wonder the song writer wrote, "Are you weary, are you heavy-hearted, tell it to Jesus alone."

What I am trying to say is that it is not wrong to have friends, but you should choose your friends wisely; but never tell your friends everything about yourself or your spouse.

Pastor
