Man pleads not guilty to assaulting wife |

|
A man charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after kicking his wife in her vagina pleaded not guilty in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. The court was told that Marlon Lopez kicked his wife after they had a disagreement. His wife told the court that he is a repeat offender as he has hit her on occasions before and she had to move out of their house where they lived together. She is now living with her mother-in-law. counselling It was revealed to the court that both Lopez and his wife have been attending counselling in an attempt to settle their differences amicably, but the practice seems ineffective. Nonetheless, Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered both to attend six more weeks of counselling as part of a six-week probation period for Lopez. RM Pusey warned Lopez that she detests acts of domestic violence and if he continues he will face serious consequences. Lopez returns to court on June 10. |
