Jah Cure - FILE Stage Name: Jah Cure Real Name: Siccature Alcock Birth Month: October How did you get started in the business? Jah Cure: I came to Kingston and I used to know a brother who knew Capleton and my family lived uptown and I used to go studio. Then I met Sizzla who link me to Beres (Hammond). He liked my spirit and, in the beginning, Beres and Harmony House used to manage me and produce me, took me on tour wid dem and did ma first song. What has been your greatest challenge in the business yet? Jah Cure: Fighting to keep my name alive in the business from behind di prison walls, truss mi, is not an easy task. To mek ma name in di business and I think I handled my challenge and stayed focused to what I know and love. What have you been up to lately? Jah Cure: Well, I'm working on ma next album to come out dis year, I have some new singles out. Unconditional Love, 2010 for Don Corleon on the 'Feelings' rhythm, Protect Yuh Like A Soldier, I have one out with Stephen Marley and Christopher Ellis, Alton Ellis' son called End of Time. I'm finishing up some new, nice stuff that my fans are gonna love. Do you look up to any specific artiste and why? Jah Cure: Yeah man, like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, the Shaggys in the world - respect dem. People who made good music and might not get dem name out there, dem all contribute to the Cure. Are you happy with the way things are going for your musical career right now? Jah Cure: Some things, yuh can't happy wid every single ting. Do you have any advice for young artistes coming up? Jah Cure: Yuh just haffi stay strong, educate yuhself, read a lot so yuh can expand your vocab, so yuh can write betta. Make good songs and keep making music, yuh just haffi know when the time is right and know yuh haffi walk di rough road before yuh reach di smooth road. Where do you see yourself in the future? Jah Cure: I see myself, in di future, filling venues to 100,000 crowd same way and doing charities for underprivileged persons and being in di top ten of charts.
