Reggae Grammy nominations out |

Nominations for the 52nd annual Grammy Awards were announced last night with Stephen Marley, Julian Marley, Gregory Issacs, Sean Paul and Buju Banton in the runnings for the coveted 'Best Reggae Album'. Buju Banton received his fourth nomination for his 'Rasta Got Soul' album, while veteran singer Gregory Issacs received his first nomination for his `Brand New Me` album. Julian Marley's 'Awake' is nominated while Stephen Marley who won his first-solo Grammy last year for 'Mind Control', has again been chosen, this year, however, it is the acoustic version, 'Mind Control- Acoustic'. Sean Paul won the Grammy for his 'Dutty Rock album in 2004 and was nominated in 2006 for his 'Trinity' album, he rounds off the nominations with his fourth album Imperial Blaze. According to www.caribbeanworldnews.com, Banton's nomination has caught attention and he is dubbed as the 'controversial reggae singer'. Attention is drawn to recent criticisms he has faced from gay activists. |
