Cop's throat slashed at Jamaica House |

A man is now in custody at the Half-Way Tree Police Station following a brazen attack at Jamaica House, Hope Road, St. Andrew yesterday, where he is alleged to have slashed a policeman across the throat with a knife. Information reaching THE STAR is that the man, who's identity is not yet released, went to the main gate of Jamaica House and tried to enter the premises, requesting to speak with Prime Minister Bruce Golding. being barred Reports are that after the man's request was not met, being barred from entering by the policeman who was manning the entrance, he brandished a knife and cut the lawman to the throat. The injured policeman was rushed to the Andrews Memorial Hospital for treatment while his colleagues accosted the attacker. When contacted last night, Deputy Superintendent Michael Phipps, crime chief for the St Andrew Central police, said the injured policeman is in stable condition. He said that no charge has been brought against the attacker as yet. |
