Ruthless gunmen snuffed out the life of a seven-year-old girl yesterday as she went for a joyride with her uncle on a motorcycle in the Drewsland community of St Andrew.

Reports are that sometime after 3 p.m. yesterday, the youngster, Colby Lewis, was at home when she asked her uncle to take her for a spin on his motorcycle.

After granting his niece's request, information is that gunmen from a rival community pounced upon Lewis' uncle as he rode by a certain section of the community, firing several shots at them. The little girl and her uncle were both shot and injured.

They were rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital, sadly, Lewis didn't survive her injuries and was pronounced dead at hospital.

The Hunts Bay police are investigating.
