Opener Brenton Parchment and middle-order batsman Shawn Findlay joined the list of batsmen who have had a good knock in the first trial match to select Jamaica's team for next year's regional four-day cricket competition, notching up innings of 82 not out and 65, respectively, at Up Park Camp yesterday.

Taking advantage of a batting track that is akin to concrete, the 27-year-old Parchment, who has represented the West Indies in two Tests, the last of which was against Australia last May at Sabina Park batted for the 40 overs that his team Bernard Jr's XI faced before stumps, and hit 13 fours off 12-balls, as his team replying to Lambert's XI massive 462, closed the day on a competitive 189-3, 273 runs in arrears.

Findlay, in the meantime, who has represented the West Indies in nine One Day Internationals to date, was the total opposite of Parchment.

The lanky 25-year-old left-hander slammed four huge sixes, two of which skimmed the roofs of several JDF buildings, and five fours, before he was adjudged leg before by a creeper from Tamar Lambert. He and Parchment had put on 98 for the third wicket.

Lambert, 1-8 off two overs towards the end, Nikita Miller, 1-49 off 16 overs, and new recruit, fast bowler Ricardo Dacres, 1-48 off six, will resume battle today against Parchment and Wavell Hinds, who is yet to score.

Newcomer, opener John-Ross Campbell, 22, also contributed to Bernard Jr's XI total.

Earlier Lambert, who ended Monday's first day unbeaten on 142, went on to add another 26 runs before he was dismissed for 168, inclusive of 22 fours and five sixes.

Miller, who was also unbeaten on 11 overnight, went on to make 46, fast bowling all-rounder, Andre Russell made a 64 inclusive of ten fours, and fast bowler, Andrew Richardson chipped in with 24.

Leg-spinner, Odean Brown 3-81 off 27.3 overs, Findlay, 3-51 off 16, and Bernard Jr 2-56 off 11, were Bernard Jr's XI leading wicket takers.
