An 83-year-old woman from Rockfort, east Kingston, barely survived after her throat was slashed by a man who broke into her house.

The victim, now in the hospital, was attacked by the man after she told him to get out of her house.

Police say about 4 a.m. on November 18, the elderly woman was in her bed when she was awakened by sounds in her house. When she went to investigate she saw the man, whom she recognised.

shouted to him

The elderly woman is said to have shouted to him to leave her house but instead he attacked her and slashed her throat.

The woman received a cut in her palm as she tired to prevent the attacker from cutting her again. The man fled after the attack. Neighbours later found her lying in blood and took her to hospital.

The Elleston Road police say a suspect is being sought in connection with the incident.
