Detectives from the St Catherine North Division were busy yesterday trying to find the killer(s) of a man who was recently released from prison. The deceased has been identified as Lenford Hamilton otherwise called 'Satta John' formerly of Tawes Pen, St Catherine. Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that about 10:30 am, residents of 'Buck Town' near Spanish Town heard explosions. When checks were made, Hamilton was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died. ''The man dem deal wid the thing rash, (dem) come fi de man inna di place and deal wid him. It just show that dem not playing wid nobaddy,'' a man was overheard saying. The news spread quickly and this resulted in residents gathering at the scene expressing different views as to why Hamilton might have been killed. Hamilton was released more than a month ago after spending more than 20 years incarcerated for the murder of a police constable in 1983, in Tawes Pen, St Catherine. THE STAR learnt that he was given a life sentence for the offence and upon his release, he was told he was not welcome in Tawes Pen and other areas which he reportedly exercised influence prior to his conviction. A number of police personnel were seen in the area and THE STAR was told that they were on high alert for any eventuality. |
