The season to be jolly is almost upon us and already the Christmas cheer is filtering in through various radio and television ads.

It so happens that at the height of Christmas time, there is also the popular dancehall show, Sting. And, as we all must know by now, where there is Sting, there is excitement and drama.

This year's show promises to be a great one and amid all the gully-gaza hype, it could also get out of hand, if those who are supporters of either side do not get their acts together, and quickly too.

For too long, this stupid dancehall divide has been making headlines and getting the focus of the entire national. In a land where children are dying almost daily, the talk on everyone's lips is gully and gaza. In fact, it would be wonderful if these words could be banned from our national vocabulary, if even only during Christmas.

Almost every newscast, of late, has made some reference to the rivalry, and though the stories may be some that seem to pacify the squabble, just the mere mention seems to perpetuate the stupidity.

So, while we look forward to a wonderful Christmas, an entertaining Sting and a promising 2010, we are also looking forward to a gaza and gully-free Christmas.
