Dear Pastor,

I hope you are doing well. I read your column in THE STAR, I listen to your radio show at nights and now I see the need to write to you for help.

I live in Greater Portmore and because of heartless, no-good people, I cannot get any sleep at nights. There is a home on the walkway with a shop at the front where they play dominoes, 365 days and nights of the year. I am a hard-working taxpayer who is entitled to my rest at nights but I am unable to do so as they play their games until 2 a.m. or later in the mornings.

I cannot let these undesirables let me relocate as the rent I pay here is more than affordable. They beat the tables and even more so what hurts me is that not one of them live around here. What happens is that they see a corner where they can idle and one come, then another, then another and another. I have called the police, I have written to the commissioner but I am still waiting on a reply.

Could you give me a kind word of advice? I am stressed. I have even spoken with the councillor because of it and when he spoke to them, nothing changed. It is very unfair that when it is time for me to get up and go to work after little or no sleep, they are just about getting their full rest. I ask for your sincere prayers. I am surprised that the police have not done anything about your complaints. I would suggest that you contact the Mayor of Portmore in writing and ask him for his help. I believe however that this thing can be easily dealt with by the police. So you may tell the Mayor that you have complained to the councillor for the area and to the police but the noise continues, therefore you are appealing to him to deal with the matter.
