Just take a listen to upcoming reggae artist Mystic Soul's debut single, I Am The One and you too will become enthralled with the silky smooth vocals of the Jamaican-born singer, now residing in Florida.

The talented young man, who hails from Waterhouse, started singing when he was four years old. Looking back at his childhood days, he credits his grandmother for his ability to sing.

"I used to sing for my grandmother when I was a little boy. I lived with her although my mother lived nearby. Grandma would drop me off at my mother's house on Saturdays before she went to the market. I can remember granny asking me to sing for her and her friends along the way, that is one of my most treasured memories," he said.

Since the release of the single, Mystic Soul has been receiving much attention from radio stations both in the US and Jamaica. The video is also receiving good support on several television stations and cable channels and is currently number four on the reggae chart on CVM TV's Hit List show.

Mystic Soul, born Winston Hall, in Kitson Town, St Catherine, relocated to Waterhouse when he was nine years old. He remembers fleeing from Waterhouse (because of gang violence), to live in Bridgeport in Portmore, St Catherine, before moving to live in the United States in the late 1990s.

blessed

Mystic Soul considers himself blessed to be where he is today because he did not succumb to the obstacles and violence young boys face growing up in Waterhouse and other inner city communities.

His move to the US meant a new beginning for Mystic Soul and he wanted to make the most of it. He wanted to become a professional singer.

This was a dream he had long cherished before moving, as he had actually recorded a few songs for producers in Jamaica, such as Jack Scorpio and Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell of Stone Love. However, it was not easy to get a start in the music business in Miami, so he worked in the construction industry for a while. He eventually did a stint with a reggae band, but he parted company with the band after three years because of creative differences.

He then got the opportunity he had always yearned for when his childhood friend, Danny B introduced him to Wayne Russell and Raphael Logan of Lyric Surge Records in 2007. He delivered an awesome performance when he auditioned for the label, which resulted in him being signed. Since signing with Lyric Surge, he has recorded several songs for the label that is owned by a team of song writers.

The company was in search of a strong vocalist with a reverence to reggae music, to record their rich collection of songs and found the perfect match in Mystic Soul. His debut album I Am The One is scheduled to be released soon.

The album captures the richness and sincerity of Mystic Soul's voice, with songs that visit a variety of topics ranging from romance and heartbreak, to a nostalgic rallying cry for Jamaicans living in the diaspora to come home and help rebuild Jamaica. The title track, I Am The One is a soulful love song that will connect with females all over the world, declaring that chivalry is still alive.
