A 48-year-old man who attempted to assault two women, and then attacked a lawman who intervened on the Prospect main road, St Thomas, on Saturday, was fatally shot by the officer.

Dead is Kenton Harrakh, otherwise called 'Tucky' of White Horses in the parish.

Reports received by the CCN are that about 4:45 a.m., a police officer was travelling along the main road when he heard screams from two females on the roadway. They were being chased by Harrakh who was armed with a knife.

The officer made enquires and Harrakh attacked him with the knife and was shot. He was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Bureau of Special Investigations has commenced a probe into the matter.
