'African' arrested for offensive weapons |

The Darling Street police have arrested a man who was reportedly held in downtown Kingston with several offensive weapons, one of which resembles a firearm. The man, identified as Patrick Hemmings, also called 'African' from a Law Street address, was charged with three counts of having an offensive weapon. routine checks Allegations are that members of the Darling Street police conducted an operation for routine checks in downtown. About 3:05 p.m., it is claimed that Hemmings was seen on Barry Street with a bulge at the side of his waist. He was approached by the police and searched. It is alleged that in his possession, the police confiscated a steel bent into a shape to resemble a gun, a small machete and a knife. According to the Darling Street police, Hemming recently served one month in prison in relation to a similar offence. Hemmings, currently in police custody, will appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on July 23 to answer to the charge. |
