'Smart-mouthed' man denied bail |

|
A man believed to be mentally unstable was recently remanded for his 'smart-mouthed' comments in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. The man, Ricardo Brown, who is charged with possession of ganja, was denied bail after he asked Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey to "present the evidence" against him. The RM ordered that he is to have a psychiatric evaluation done on him before he returns to court on August 25. It is alleged that Brown was found with an ounce of the illegal drug in his possession and was arrested and charged with the offence. When he appeared in the court on Wednesday and was asked to plead, he asked that the judge "present the evidence". This request resulted in an outburst of laughter from those in the courtroom, except the resident magistrate. The investigating officer was quick to his feet, however, pointing out to the court that the accused man was a bit "off" mentally. Brown is to return to court on August 25, when the results of the psychiatric evaluation will be known. |
