What have you been up to lately? Fyakin: I'm currently pushing my new single called Soulmate on Bibi Gardener's Touch Dem rhythm. It's been getting a nice rotation and I'm planning on shooting a video for it right now. Do you look up to any specific artiste and why? Fyakin: I-Wayne, I really admire his humility, he was one of the first man to look pon me and talk to me about music. Me used to sing whole heap of derogatory songs, him sey mi mus sing bout life and I've been doing that since then. Also people like Queen Ifrica, Tony Rebel, Peter Tosh, Gregory Issacs, they set the pace. Are you happy with the way things are going for your musical career right now? Fyakin: Definitely pleased and happy, but more can be done and as time goes along I plan to excel. Do you have any advice for young artistes coming up? Fyakin: I always have advice and that's to respect yourself, know the music is unlimited and just do your best. Where do you see yourself in the future? Fyakin: I see myself as one of those great reggae icons and that is what I work towards. -Krista Henry |
