Jacksons for Sumfest

Tito and Jackie Jackson will pay homage to their brother Michael Jackson with a touch of reggae.

Yesterday, Reggae Sumfest organisers announced that the two brothers, original members of the Jackson Five, will perform on International Night Two, July 25, at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex.

Robert Russell, chairman of Summerfest Productions, said there is a strong possibility that the other siblings, Marlon and Jermaine, may share the limelight.

Following Michael's sudden death on June 25, the organisers said they would dedicate this year's show to the King of Pop.

"Michael was the most important entertainer in our lifetime. His departure was quite sudden and unexpected and has saddened all of us. It is only appropriate that a festival like Sumfest should pay tribute to him," said Russell two weeks ago.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, who played a pivotal role in getting the artistes here, with the help of Prime Minister Bruce Golding, said Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine, has also expressed a desire to come to Jamaica with her grandchildren, but she is currently grieving.

This will be the first performance by Tito and Jackie since Michael's passing.

On Friday, July 24, American R&B artiste Ne-Yo is confirmed to pay tribute to Michael.
