ATI in Five - Delano ...

Delano of Renaissance Sound System. - Contributed

The Star got together with Delano Thomas, disc jockey and co-owner of Renaissance Sound System, to pick his brain about ATI weekend. Check it out.

Q1: ATI is celebrating its ninth year since inception in 2001. What is your most memorable moment?

A: The first event that we kept at ATI. It was in 2003 and we got a big turnout, it was at the Tamboo. It was celebrated as my birthday and it was a big event, everybody supported it. It was one of the most memorable moments at ATI for me.

Q2: You have been part of Tempted at ATI for the past six years, what can your patrons expect this year?

A: It is always the kick-off party but this year we are doing it as Tempted All-white Glow and it is the second party event because Hip Hop J'Ouvert is in the day and Tempted is in the night on August 6 in Negril.

Q3: What is your favourite Appleton drink?

A: Appleton and coke, Appleton and cranberry, Appleton and water (laughter).

Q4: What keeps you coming back to ATI every year?

A: The team. I used to play in Ocho Rios for Independence weekend and Alex Chin invited me over to Negril the third year they did it (ATI) and I liked it and said I wanted to come on board. I have been part of it ever since.

Q5: What advice would you give to this year's partygoers?

A: Drink responsibly, make sure that you eat before you have something to drink and have water breaks in between. We do not want anybody dropping down or having too much to drink. I think people should come and have a good time and remember that ATI is the original weekend - come and party with us.
