Ricardo Chambers - File

Ricardo Chambers, less than 12 hours after regaining his national 400m title, crashed his Dodge Charger on Old Hope Road late Sunday night.

The accident happened in the vicinity of popular nightclub Water Falls as he headed down Old Hope Road from Papine. It has been reported that the car skidded across the island in the road and crashed into the wall on the opposite side.

On Sunday, Chambers regained his national title after outdueling Allodin Fothergill, who finished second in a time of 45.57 down the stretch. Chambers finished in a time of 45.55 while Lansford Spence was third in 45.78.

The athlete escaped with minor injuries and is said to have just sustained a cut to his right hand. It has been reported that the athlete was leaving an 'after trials' party.

Coach Glen Mills confirmed Chambers is okay and is at home resting. "He assured me that he is okay," said Mills. The Mills-coached Racers Group will be heading to Europe tomorrow.
