Patrons not that 'Extatic' |

Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter
To say the least, more was expected from the first in the Extatic Fridays series which was held at Cuddy'z, New Kingston, on Friday night. Stepping into the freezing venue at midnight, the most visible thing was the huge space left in the centre of the small room, as patrons simply lined the walls and bar area. Up until 2 a.m., that was still the case. Nonetheless, there was dancing at intervals, especially from a 'fluffy' couple standing near to the DJ booth. The woman was the centre of attention for quite a while , as she wined low and hoisted her leg up on her male partner's hip and waist. She danced even harder, sometimes off the beat, when she was being commended by the DJ. Luckily, there were times when she was not the only patron dancing. She was joined when songs like MIA's Paper Planes and Baby Cham's Vitamin S were played. There was even a chorus of "Raeee!" for Tony Matterhorn's Goodas Fi Dem .Vybz Kartel songs like Beyoncé Wine and Yuh A Mi Baby were favourites. Ladies' night
With most of the women in red and the announcement that it was ladies' night, a string of soca songs was played. Yet, there was still very little dancing. But at least they sang along to Soulja Boy's Kiss Me Thru The Phone and Kanye West's Heartless. And there was movement again for raunchy songs like Busy Signal's Tight and Vybz Kartel and Spice's Rampin Shop. But even with top DJs like Coppershot, ZJ Chrome and Darkcide playing good music, the patrons still continued to leave. |
