Loader man jailed for assault |

A loader man, accused of stabbing a taxi operator because he wanted to load his car himself, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment at hard labour in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Charged with unlawful wounding is Clive Shand. The complainant told the court that he was loading his car when he was approached by Shand who told him that he should be doing that. He said an argument developed and during a struggle, Shand used a knife to stab him in the chest. Shand, however, told the court that the complainant was accidentally stabbed. He also admitted that he has been to jail "about three times", twice for unlawful wounding. The complainant told the court that he was willing to look beyond the incident since he has decided to give his life to God, but Shand was still sentenced to a three-month term. |
