The National housing Trustcar park venue in New Kingston was good, and the music was even better, as Saturday night saw the staging of Puma Finish Line, a party that had been denied permits at least twice before. Despite all the publicity that the event got, the immense planning, and high hopes on which the promoters were living, Finish Line was rocked by a low turnout. Patrons who came enjoyed the music and the live performances, especially those in the VIP section, who were close to the action. The music from CD Master, Chromatic and Cash Flow lifted the energy level of the low turnout, and those in the VIP booth enjoyed the drink mixes and taking pics with the 'Puma Girls'. Dancehall artiste Singing Sweet gave the women something to smile about, as he performed some of his early '90s hits, his covers for When I See You Smile and Oh Donna. good effect Also taking the stage were Bramma, Chino, Wasp, all to good effect, riding on the vibe set early by CD Master. Promoter of the event, Maurice Williams, focused on the positives. He, like most of the patrons that were interviewed, were of the view that had the event been held at its original time, all would have gone well. "We provided a high-quality event, we didn't get the turnout we were looking out for, but the good thing about it, we finally got to stage the event. Also, a lot of established events were also on (the same night)," Williams said. "Next year, hopefully all will go according to plan, and we can have the event right after the (Boys and Girls') Championships, where we can get the patronage of our loyal supporters," he added.
