![]() File - Usain Bolt LAUSANNE, Switzerland (CMC) Jamaican sprint phenomenon Usain Bolt has confirmed he will run at the Athletissima Super Grand Prix in July, his first stadium outing on the European circuit this season. The 22-year-old triple Olympic gold medallist is the first athlete to confirm his participation in the meet scheduled for the La Pontaise Stadium on July 7. Bolt is expected to do battle in the 200 metres at the event which forms part of the IAAF World Athletics Tour. The lanky sprinter is the defending champion in Lausanne, having run a superb 19.63 seconds last year to equal the stadium record set by American Xavier Carter three years ago. Bolt's time was also the fourth fastest in 200 metres history but following his world record 19.30 seconds in Beijing, there will be an air of anticipation surrounding the Jamaican's outing this year. "It's true that it (last year's race in Lausanne) was a good race with a very good time, even if I let up a bit at the end, as it was the end of the season and I felt a little bit tired," Bolt recalled. Bolt has run in the French-speaking Swiss city for the last three years and admitted he had fallen in love with the track, "its long curve" and the great public. The triple world record holder was also involved in a thrilling 200 metres race here in 2006 when he clocked 19.88 to be one of four
runners to dip below 20 seconds. |
