Ninja stays in jail

Ninja Man - file

Dancehall artiste Ninja Man, born Desmond Ballentine, was again denied bail when his case was mentioned in the Corporate Area Gun Court on Tuesday.

The deejay was remanded until May 7.

Ballentine, who is charged with shooting with intent, illegal possession of a firearm, murder and conspiracy to murder, has been in custody since his arrest about two weeks ago.

He was charged after an incident on March 17, in which 20-year-old Ricardo Johnson, otherwise called Ricky Trooper, was shot dead in the Lower Mall Road community.

Reports are that at 11:15 a.m., Johnson was sweeping his yard in the company of a friend when a grey car drove up. An argument developed between Johnson's friend and one of the men in the car. The men then drove off. The car later returned and the occupants opened fire, hitting Johnson. The deejay denies the allegations.
