The police are now investigating at least four cases in which men have allegedly posed as sales representatives in order to gain access to houses before robbing unsuspecting persons.
Police sources say the cases being investigated occurred over the last two weeks.
There have been two cases in Mountain View in east Kingston, one in Allman Town, in central Kingston, and the other in Mona, in St Andrew.
"We have reports of at least four cases which we are currently looking into," Detective Corporal Marcus Hilton of the Area Four police told THE STAR.
According to the police, two men and two women have fallen
victim to the robbers.
Detective Corporal said: "All the reports are pretty much the same. A single man visits the home and knocks, he then identifies himself as a sales representative and even has items on display. Once inside the house, a gun is brandished and the persons are robbed. The robbers have stolen money and cellphones and other personal belongings."
While the police say they have not identified a suspect in any of the cases, they are appealing to residents to beware of persons claiming to be sales representatives.
"Be very careful who you let inside your home. Just to be on the safe side, stay on the inside and have them display the items from the outside," Detective Corporal Hilton urged.
